I grew up (and live in) southern California. My grandmother came from Missouri, so maybe that's where I got my love for real Southern BBQ. I keep my BBQ pretty traditional. I cook LOW and SLOW over real wood. My favorites for smoking are, apple, pecan, hickory and alder. I really enjoy coming up with my own sauces, and often throw in a couple of twists (the SoCal in me)... Karen is my wife (been together since 1989) and we have one child, Garrett, who is seven-years-old. Karen loves my BBQ, but Garrett is going through a very picky time right now. About all he wants to eat is Chicken Nuggets and PB&J...
